How to Count the Days Between Two Dates
The number of days between two dates is the end date minus the start date. The calculator does this using the real calendar, so leap years and different month lengths are always handled correctly.
By default the start date is counted and the end date is not. This is the standard way to measure a duration: from Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. Tick “Include the end date” when both days should count, for example when counting the days of a trip, a hotel booking period from check-in to check-out day, or an event that runs from the 1st to the 5th (5 days).

How Business Days Are Counted
Business days are the weekdays, Monday to Friday, inside the counted period. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Public holidays are not excluded, because they differ by country and region. Subtract any holidays that fall in your period yourself. For example, if the period includes Christmas Day and New Year’s Day on weekdays, subtract 2.
Shipping times, notice periods and legal deadlines sometimes have their own rules for whether the first or last day counts. Check the exact rule when the deadline matters.
Counting Days by Hand
For dates in the same year, add up the days remaining in the start month, the days of each full month in between, and the day number of the end date.
Example: March 10 to May 20. March has 31 days, so 31 − 10 = 21 days remain. Add April (30) and 20 days of May: 21 + 30 + 20 = 71 days.
Month lengths: 31 days in January, March, May, July, August, October and December. 30 days in April, June, September and November. February has 28 days, or 29 in a leap year (2028 is the next one).

Does the calculator include the end date?
Not by default. Tick “Include the end date” to add one day, so both the first and the last day are counted.

A year has 260 or 261 weekdays (262 in some leap years), before public holidays are subtracted. 2026 has 261 weekdays.
How many weeks are between two dates?
Divide the number of days by 7. The calculator shows the result as full weeks plus the remaining days.
